Uzbekistan’s Aviation Hub Shaken by Devastating Incident due to heavy blast

According to Uzbek authorities, a tragic incident that occurred overnight close to the airport in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, resulted in one fatality and more than a hundred injuries. The Uzbek health ministry acknowledged the untimely passing of an adolescent who was born in 2006 via the Telegram messaging app. They also said that the blast’s aftereffects had injured a staggering 162 persons. The emergency circumstances ministry explained that a severe lightning strike caused an explosion that started a fire in an airport storage. Authorities are still coping with the effects of this catastrophic series of events.

According to the health ministry, 24 persons were hospitalised with critical injuries and 138 sustained minor injuries. These data demonstrate the region’s healthcare infrastructure’s strain and the affected people’s medical needs. Video of the disaster’s massive flame column and dense smoke rising into the night sky has gone viral.

The blast was so powerful that it broke windows in surrounding homes, seriously damaging the interiors of those buildings. The blast’s effects are felt well beyond the surrounding area, having an impact on the lives of numerous locals.

Explosion persisted for hours after the initial incident as emergency response teams raced to the place. While valiantly evacuating the injured, the ambulance crew worked nonstop to put out the fire.

An AFP correspondent on the scene reported seeing chaotic scenes that give an idea of the difficulties first responders encounter.

I woke up at night, said Moustafo Kutepov, a 72-year-old pensioner who lives nearby and relayed his terrifying story. It looked to me like an earthquake. I then noticed the fire, he recalled. My son suffered a leg injury. His request that authorities pay for the home’s damage as winter approaches reflects the short- and long-term requirements of those living nearby.
